Table Tennis Olympic 50p
The Table Tennis 50p was issued as part of a series of 29 Olympic 50ps in commemoration of London 2012, with each 50p featuring a different Olympic Sport.
Table Tennis made its Olympic debut in Seoul in 1988. Since then, China has won 16 of the 20 gold medals awarded, including all five in the men's doubles and women's singles.
The table tennis 50p was designed by Alan Linsdell, a retired illustrator who is a big fan of the sport. The coin features two table tennis bats crossing over each other with the table in the background.
