Austria’s very last ‘Schilling’ coins

The Austrian 'Schilling' was the currency of the Republic of Austria before the Euro was introduced in 2002.

This five coin set features every denomination from Austria that was still in circulation before the ‘Schilling’ ceased to exist as a currency.

• 1 Schilling - features three edelweiss flowers on the reverse, the national flower of Austria.

• 5 Schilling - The 5 Schilling design displays a Lippizaner stallion with a rider on the Obverse and the Austrian escutcheon, an ornamental shield, on the reverse.

• 10 Schilling - the largest coin in the set, this coin features traditional Austrian artwork with the country’s iconic coat of arms on the obverse, and the image of a woman wearing the classic headgear of Lower Austria on the reverse.

• 10 Groschen – The obverse design features a small Austrian coat of arms, an imperial eagle with the Austrian shield on its breast. The reverse states the value and date, surrounded by a scalloped rim.

• 50 Groschen - The obverse design by Hans Kottenstorfer features the Austrian shield and the state title. The reverse displays the value with a small stemless gentian flower behind the zero.
