Cycling Olympic 50p
This coin was issued as part of a series of 29 Olympic 50ps in commemoration of London 2012, with each 50p featuring a different Olympic Sport.
Cycling was Team GB’s most successful event at the 2012 Games. Between track and road events, a total of eight gold medals were won with Chris Hoy and Bradley Wiggins leading the charge.
The winning design chosen by the Royal Mint belonged to Theo Crutchley-Mack, an art student and keen cyclist from Yorkshire. The coin features a cyclist on a veledrome track.
