As 2014 marks the Centenary of the First World War, it is a time to remember our nation’s military heroes – the Victoria Cross Medal Winners. Not just of the First World War (when more than half the total VC medals were awarded), but from conflicts from the Crimea to modern-day Iraq.
Now, 100 years since the first Victoria Cross Medal was awarded in WWI, we are proud to present this brand new cover to honour those men - Our Victoria Cross Heroes Medal Cover.
The limited edition cover includes Royal Mail's six official VC Winner stamps, each one telling a different heroic story. From Charles Davis Lucas, the very first recipient of the Victoria Cross, who was awarded the VC in recognition of his actions during the Crimea War, through to Corporal Agansing Rai, a Gurkha rifleman who was awarded his VC in the Second World War.
The cover also features a photograph of Lieutenant Maurice Dease VC, who was awarded the very first Victoria Cross in the First World War. Appropriately, the stamps will be officially postmarked with the Centenary date of Lieutenant Dease’s actions – 23rd August 2014 - and his place of training at the Sandhurst Military College.
Encapsulated within the cover is a miniature replica of the Victoria Cross - just like the ones awarded to each of the 7 heroes that feature on the cover.
Each cover is hand-numbered in gold and comes displayed in a Presentation Folder with a Certificate of Authenticity.
There are just 250 covers available and in this centenary year we have witnessed a number of WWI themed covers sell out, to ensure you don't miss out please place your order today.
