UK 2007 Abolition of the Slave Trade £2 Coin

2007 Abolition of Slavery £2

UK 2007 Abolition of the Slave Trade £2 Coin

In 1807, the Act for the Abolition of the Slave Trade received Royal Assent and became a law throughout the British Empire.

The Act did not abolish slavery itself but was a major step towards recognising its damaging effects and led toward its complete abolition across the Empire in 1833.

This coin marks the 200th anniversary of the Act and the reverse design features the key date 1807 formed by a broken chain link.
