Wheelchair Rugby Olympic 50p
The Wheelchair Rugby 50p was issued as part of a series of 29 Olympic 50ps in commemoration of London 2012, with each 50p featuring a different Olympic Sport.
Wheelchair rugby made its first appearance at the Paralympic games in Sydney in 2000, and has been described as a combination of ice hockey, basketball and rugby.
It is one of three paralympic coins in the Olympic 50p collection, and was designed by Natasha Ratcliffe who also designed the Handball 50p. The coin features a wheelchair rugby player in action.
