230th Anniversary of First Dollar Coin: Flowing Hair Silver Medal

Commemorating the 230th anniversary of the first dollar coin issued by the United States Government, originally in 1794, the U.S. Mint has faithfully recreated this historic design as a pure silver medal.

Featuring Liberty with free-flowing hair and 15 traditional six-pointed stars symbolizing the states that ratified the Constitution by 1794. This medal captures the very essence of American ‘freedom’ and the Mint’s long-standing legacy.

  • Hidden Editions: There are special editions included in the overall edition limit, with just 1,794 medals featuring a special ‘230’ privy mark. There are then an even smaller amount of 230 medals with a numbered certificate signed by U.S. Mint Director Ventris C. Gibson. These rare editions are randomly distributed—yours could be one!
  • Demand has been high: Just 46 silver medals are available for Westminster Collectors.
  • Sold out at the Mint: This release has seen unprecedented demand. A truly limited addition to any collection.
