To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the House of Windsor The Royal Mint released a £5 commemorative issue in a variety of specifications. But there is one coin in particular that stands out above all others.

Piedfort coins are the pinnacle of Royal Mint craftsmanship and are twice the thickness of a standard coin – meaning each coin is double the weight and twice the amount of Silver. Only a tiny fraction of all UK coins each year are struck in this way and are reserved for the grandest occasions.
