Own the Stephen Hawking 50p BU Pack

The Royal Mint have issued this coin to mark the one year anniversary of Stephen Hawking’s passing on 14th March 2018 but to also celebrate his life and contributions to science.

Struck by The Royal Mint to a pristine Brilliant Uncirculated finish, the reverse features a design by Edwina Ellis, which has been approved by the Hawking Estate. It depicts a swirling black hole and showcases his most famous scientific equation relating to black holes. This was his crowning achievement, and requested it be inscribed on his gravestone.

Commemorative coins released to mark a death are usually issued at landmark anniversaries, but this tribute to the great late physicist has been issued less than a year after his passing, by two days.

This makes it potentially the fastest issued commemorative marking a death. Because of the remarkable speed at which it has been issued, this coin is likely to be in high demand.

Your coin will arrive in its official Royal Mint presentation pack.
