To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 50p, The Royal Mint has re-issued five 50p coins celebrating British Military history.

The 50th Anniversary of the 50p focusing on British Culture issued earlier in the year saw such an over-whelming demand from Collectors we’re certain this set will be matched with the same collector enthusiasm.

The five 50ps

2019 D-Day 50p – originally issued in 1994, the design represents the D-Day landings of the Allied invasion force heading for Normandy and filling the sea and sky.

2019 VC Winners Medal 50p – depicting the obverse and reverse of a Victoria Cross, this 50p was released in 2006 to mark the 150th anniversary of the Victoria Cross.

2019 VC Winners Soldier 50p – this 50p released in 2006 commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Victoria Cross and features a soldier carrying a wounded comrade with an outline of the Victoria Cross.

2019 Battle of Hastings 50p – showing the scene from the Bayeux tapestry depicting King Harold with an arrow in his eye, this coin was originally released in 2016 to mark the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings.

2019 Battle of Britain 50p – Marking the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, this 50p was first issued in 2015 and features three airmen running to their planes with enemy aircraft overhead.
