A new £2 has been issued to celebrate Samuel Pepys and mark the 350th Anniversary of his final diary entry. Considered to be the greatest diarist who ever lived, he has provided invaluable insight into the most important British events of the 17th century, including the Great Fire of London, the coronation of Charles II and the Great Plague.
Struck by The Royal Mint, the reverse features a design inspired by the shorthand Pepys would use to write his diaries.
