*** No longer available at The Royal Mint ***

On the 4th November 1922, British Egyptologist, Howard Carter led an excavation in Egypt's Valley of the Kings which resulted in the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun.

Ruling Egypt as pharaoh for 10 years, King Tut met his untimely end at the age of just 19 his tomb lying undisturbed for over 3,000 years before its discovery.

To celebrate 100 years since this remarkable find, The Royal Mint have issued a £5 coin, featuring the instantly recognisable face of the pharaoh, complete with his royal headdress.

Queen Elizabeth II’s Final Coins

Importantly, this coin could be one of the final releases to feature the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.

Since her passing on the 8th September 2022, demand for QE II coins has soared and, as such, this £5 coin is set to be extremely sought-after not just amongst coin collectors.
