Sixty years as British monarch is a landmark milestone that has only ever been matched once before — by Queen Victoria — and is unlikely ever to happen again in our lifetimes. This £5 coin was struck in 2012 to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the throne. This is the first coin ever struck to commemorate a Diamond Jubilee — there were no special coins for Queen Victoria's in 1897.
