This coin was issued as part of a series of 29 Olympic 50ps in commemoration of London 2012, with each 50p featuring a different Olympic Sport.
Great Britain is the most successful nation In Olympic sailing history, with more gold medals won than any other country. Bruce Rushin, an art and design teacher from Norfolk designed the Sailing 50p, he was also the designer of the UK's very first £2 coin.
The coin features three sailing boats accompanied by the map of Weymouth in the background.
