Commemorate the record breaking Mallard Locomotive

Today you can own the first issue in the British Railway Collection – the Mallard Commemorativefor FREE (+p&p) when you trial the collection.

The World’s Fastest Steam Locomotive

In 1938, the LNER Mallard, a member of the A4 Class of Locomotives would set a new world speed record for steam locomotives when it reached an incredible 126mph!

And that record still stands to this day…

The brainchild of mechanical engineer Sir Nigel Gresley, the Mallard’s design incorporated features to maximise speed, including a streamlined body and a unique double chimney to improve steam flow.

Today the iconic steam locomotive still holds a special place in the hearts of rail enthusiasts and historians alike.
