The designs, created by three of the industry’s most respected coin designers pay homage to the sacrifices and resilience of the Allied forces during the Second World War.
- Jean-Michel Girard designed the Jersey £5 which captures VE Day in London, with jubilant crowds and military personnel on The Mall, flanked by flags and leading to Buckingham Palace. It features Churchill's quote, "THIS IS YOUR VICTORY," and the date 8th May 1945.
- David Lawrence designed the Guernsey £5 coin and showcases Winston Churchill with his iconic V for Victory gesture, framed by St Paul’s Cathedral. Searchlights form a V in the background, while delighted civilians wave flags and cheer in the streets, celebrating VE Day.
- Craig Wilson designed the Guernsey 50p coin which depicts the newspapers sold on the streets announcing the end of the war. Big Ben features in the background showing 8 o'clock to represent the 8th May, the day the end of the war in Europe was declared.
