The Perth Mint have just released the 2024 Gold Proof Sovereign.

It celebrates the 125th anniversary of the Perth Mint Sovereign and to say it is special would be an understatement for three simple reasons.

  1. It is the first Australia Sovereign to be released featuring King Charles III.
  2. The reverse has been redesigned in homage to the first ever Perth Mint Sovereign – featuring a new interpretation of the classic St George and the Dragon.
  3. Its edition limit is just 2,000 – over three times scarcer than the sold-out UK 2024 Gold Proof Sovereign.

Struck to the same exacting standards as the UK Gold Proof Sovereign – in 7.98g of 22 carat gold – the coin is the first Sovereign to be issued since the Platinum Jubilee edition in 2022, marking a 2-year hiatus for the change of monarch.

What makes this coin even more special, is that it has been released on the 125th Anniversary of The Perth Mint – marking over a century of rich heritage as a world renowned Mint.
