England Football Finalists Gold Sovereign Pair DateStamp Issue
On Sunday, the England Men’s Football Team will step out to try and win the European Football Championships for the first time.
And today, you can celebrate this moment, alongside another iconic moment in sporting history, with the 1966 and 2024 Sovereign DateStampTM Pair…
1966 and 2024 Sovereigns
Each pair features both the UK 1966 Sovereign – issued in the year that the England Men’s Team won the World Cup for the first and only time – alongside the 2024 UK Bullion Sovereign.
Each coin has been struck from 22 carat gold and features the iconic St George & the Dragon design by Benedetto Pistrucci.
What’s more, the 1966 Sovereign features the first portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Mary Gillick, whilst the 2024 Sovereign features the first and only portrait of King Charles III.
Both coins mark a huge moment in English football – from Geoff Hurst’s hat trick in 1966, to England’s record-breaking Euros moment.
Postmarked on 14th July 2024 - date of the Final
Both coins have then been individually paired with a Royal Mail 1st Class Stamp and postmarked on the day of the final – 14th July 2024.
However, due to the limited number of historic Sovereigns that are available, alongside the one-day-only postmarking date, the edition limit has been strictly set to just 24.
When you consider that over 10 million people will be tuning in to watch the final, this undeniably won’t be enough to go around.
Rest assured, should the England Men’s Team progress to WIN the tournament, your pair will be automatically upgraded to the winners DateStampTM.
